The first answer is somewhat correct…

If you saved your contacts to your SIM card, you can put the SIM in a different phone and retrieve the contacts that way.

If you go to your provider, you’ll get the numbers but not necessarily know who they belong to.

Since the contact information IS stored on the phone…

You may be able to move the SIM over to the replacement phone.

If you’ve backed it up to another device… then that’s also a way to go…

Finally you may be able to request a "DETAILED LIST" of the calls made and received from your carrier.

If you’ve actually called or received a call from the number you seek… then you will find it there.

Have you tried calling one or more of there friends at home and ask this person if they have the cell # or ask the other person’s friends at school or collage if happen to be in still (either) Or if this person i at work try this but best bet is ck your cell bill for your lost contacts all the #s you call should appear on your cell bill if have a contract if not contact your services and see if they can mail you a copy of all calls made in the last 30-60 days this should show all calls and the # hope you remember the # when you see it good luck.
